Cabling and bracing is a service performed to prevent the splitting of a fork in a tree. The two limbs are pulled together using a come-along and then the cable is set. The come-along is then released and the cable is tight. A brace, which is a rod installed at the base of the fork is sometimes also advised.
In some trees, a root will grow very close to the truck of the tree and as the trunk and root both grow begin to choke the tree and prevent its circulation. If the root in question is small enough it can be removed.
